Five Important Settings You Should Know about HP Computers

If you are using hp computers, you must know these five essential things to troubleshoot, Reset BIOS, change advanced BIOS settings etc.

1) How to access the BIOS Setup setting on an HP Computer?

  1. Make sure your computer is off. If it is not, switch it off.
  2. Power on your computer and start pressing F10 or Esc key for accessing the BIOS setup.
  3. Continue pressing the key repeatedly until the BIOS setup utility screen appears.
  4. Make necessary adjustments and modify your hardware settings by navigating the BIOS settings using the keyboard.
  5. Save the settings after making the necessary adjustments, then close the BIOS setup.

2) How to reset your hp computer?

  1. Please turn on your computer and keep pressing F11 immediately (or F11 with Function key) until you see Choose an option.
  2. Use arrow keys on your keyboard and go to Troubleshoot option, and press enter on your keyboard.
  3. Then choose Reset This PC and press enter.
  4. You will see two options Keep my files and Remove everything. Choose the appropriate option for you and press enter.
    • Keep my files: This option will reset your computer without deleting your files and programs.
    • Remove everything: This option will remove everything from your computers and reset your system.
  5. Once the resetting process completes 100% it will ask you to choose language, keyboard, wifi settings, computer name, user name, password etc. Follow the instructions on your computer to complete the further process.

3) How to access the boot menu or boot order on hp Computer?

  1. Power On and Access the Boot Menu
    • Turn on your HP computer.
    • Immediately start pressing F9 or F11 with the Function key repeatedly until the Choose an option screen appears.
  2. Select Boot Device
    • To access the Boot Device Options or Boot Manager, use the arrow keys on your keyboard.
    • Press Enter to access the boot device options.
  3. Choose Boot Device
    • Use the arrow keys to navigate the boot device options and choose the proper boot device such as a USB drive, DVD-ROM, etc.
    • Press Enter to boot your system from the selected device.

4) How to Update Device Drivers on an HP Computer?

  1. Identify the Drivers to Update
    • Open the Device Manager by pressing Windows key + X and selecting Device Manager from the menu.
    • To find the device you wish to upgrade, browse the categories. Display adapters, Network adapters, Sound, video, and game controllers, thise are examples of common categories.
  2. Update Drivers from Device Manager
    • Right-click on the device you want to update and select Update driver.
    • Select to automatically look for driver software updates. The most recent driver will be found by Windows and installed through Windows Update.
  3. Update Drivers from the Manufacturer’s Website (HP)
    • Visit the official HP website and navigate to the support or drivers section.
    • Enter your specific HP laptop model or use the auto-detect feature to identify your laptop
    • Download the latest drivers for the relevant hardware components such as graphics, Wi-Fi, sound, etc.
  4. Install Downloaded Drivers
    • Once downloaded, run the executable files to install the updated drivers.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  5. Restart Your Computer
    • After installing the new drivers, restart your computer to ensure the changes take effect.

5.How to Configure Privacy and Security Settings on an HP Computer?

  1. Windows Privacy Settings
    • Navigate to Settings (Windows key + I) and select Privacy.
    • Review and adjust privacy settings for various features, including location, camera, microphone, notifications, and more.
  2. Windows Defender Security Center
