Are you struggling with the error BootDevice Not found, Please install an operating system on your hard disk error with Hard Disk (3F0) on your HP computers.
In this blog, We will discuss how to fix the hard drive problem on HP computers. If you are using HP Computers and facing errors like Hard drive not found, Hard drive not detected, Hard drive not installed or no hard drive. This same problem can appear with other terms like boot device not found, please install an operating system on your hard drive, Hard disk – (3F0) etc.
Causes:-
There could be several reasons for such errors;
- The hard drive is faulty or damaged
- Loose hard drive connection
- Unsuitable BIOS settings
- Operating system is faulty
Diagnostics Test:
To understand the problem, we have to perform a hard drive test. For most HP computers, F2 is the shortcut key to initiate the diagnostic test.
- Press F2 to start diagnostic test. (In some computers F2 works with Function key)
- Select Hard drive check using arrow keys and press enter.
- Select Quick check from the list.
This test will guide us towards our next step. We performed a hard drive check because the problem is either our computer is not detecting the hard drive or the operating system is not installed correctly, or the BIOS settings are not suitable. In that case, there is no point to perform a Memory test. Another point is, Quick check is good enough to identify any of the above issues, so there is no point to go for an Extensive check and waiting for two hours.
If the system fails this test:
The problem can be the hard drive connection. You can remove the cable from the hard drive and reconnect it properly. Perform the above test again. If it gives the same problem again, it is time to change the hard disk. It is an opportunity for you to go for big size and latest technology suitable for your motherboard.
If the system pass this test:
The problem is in the BIOS settings or the operating system. In this case, you have to go to the BIOS setting and perform the below operations.
- Turn off your system by continuously pressing your computer untill it turned off.
- Power on your computer and start pressing F10 key immediately to access BIOS. This F10 key can be different depending on the model or company.
- Navigate BIOS settings to find Date and Time and confirm they are correct. You can use arrow keys to navigate through all the settings.
- If Date and Time are incorrect, change them and restart your computer to see wether it fix the problem.
- If the Date and Time are correct, we need to see the Legacy mode or Legacy support (Legacy also knows us CSM) and try to swith it. If it is Enabled, Disable it, If it is Disabled, Enable it and see wether it fix this problem.
